This is a nifty little thing I picked up at HCC days in Utrecht, November 14th 2004. Its price was EUR55,- which is a bit expensive perhaps. The idea is to have 4 PC's use 1 VGA monitor, PS/2 mouse and PS/2 keyboard. It doesn't require external power supply, but leeches from PS/2 keyboard (*not* mouse) connector instead. What follows here is a short summary of the manual, so I can safely toss that away :-) ---++ Some non-obvious features * PC selection via (single) pushbutton or hotkey * Up to 1920x1440, DDC, DDCB, DDC2B, <200MHz * Auto scan, auto skip on PC poweroff ---++ Port LED description * *LED off*: connected PC not powered on * only *LED green*: connected PC is powered on * *LED green on, LED red flash*: connected PC is selected for view ---++ PC keyboard functions * press *right Shift twice* to toggle beep-sound ---++ Modes of operation ---+++ Manual select * press *Select-button on KVM switch* to select a PC. The button cycles through all powered PC's. ---+++ Hotkey selection * press *Left Ctrl twice* to move to next active PC * press *Right Ctrl twice* to move to prev active PC * press *Scroll Lock twice* to select auto-scan. A LED will flash for 5 to 30 seconds. *Esc* aborts auto-scan mode. * Press *+* to increase, and *-* to decrease scan time Scan time is indicated using kbd LEDs: | *scan time* | *Num Lock* | *Caps Lock* | *Scroll Lock* | | *5 sec* | - | - | X | | *10 sec* | X | - | - | | *15 sec* | X | - | X | | *20 sec* | - | X | - | | *25 sec* | - | X | X | | *30 sec* | X | X | - | ---+++ Chaining to other KVM switch I have this thing connected to [[My_Newstar_NS-211MICRO_2_port_KVM_switch]]; so see that page for more info.
