Aaargh, you must have misclicked somewhere; you
really don't want to be here!
But welcome anyway! :-) This is the hobby-site of Michai Ramakers, should you wonder.

* Nothing on this site is real. Nor true. Nor interesting. Or perhaps
* it is - it's up to you. I don't take responsibility for anything,
* ever, and I don't just mean things in any way related to this site,
* but in general, always and ever, unless I do.
*
* Have a nice day.

Furthermore, I'll focus on
content rather than eye candy - there's
enough of that already. For example, I just spent 20 minutes
googling for a pic to make this graveyard look a bit less like one,
and in the end figured it wasn't worth it.
Instead I could have done
this[2] and
this[3] or
even
this[4],
although neither one seems like much fun.
Graphics are nice but not my game. If you don't like it, feel free
to leave :-)
Talking of which,...
if you can draw a
better sheep than
the one in the logo, above, please
mail me[5]
!
Goodie. What's new:
This lovely site is a

guest running (of course)
NetBSD[20] ![[image]](http://michai.dyndns.org/pic/netbsd_logo_small.png)

by a real

to

ADSL connection.
Thank you,
Jari Tuominen[23], for the

icon, and thank you,
other people, for beta-testing the

engine.
Of course you want to know why you are wasting your time with this
nonsense - well here you go:
First, some facts:
- almost every place has internet access these days
- WWW is, imho, the public interface of internet and therefore seldomly blocked
- duplication of volatile information is bad
- my memory is bad
Therefore,...
- I need a personal, centralized, web-accessible information store.
Note that I have left out a few steps in my reasoning, but who's counting. :-)
The main purpose of this site is to have a quickly-editable web-scratchpad.
My memory is rather bad; therefore my ultimate, yet humble goal is to
eliminate as many barriers as possible for recording thoughts, ideas and
nonsense onto a permanent medium (unlike my own memory) from almost anywhere
in the world.
Compare this to the goal of e.g.
world domination - mine's easier.
Consider this site to fall back on when you...
- are bored
- can't sleep
- have already done every possible other thing
- need inspiration
- need a good laugh
- want to boost your ego by looking at something you could have done better
- are me, and are actually using this site for what it's meant for
Apart from nonsense-content, there may actually be something of interest to
you; the
topics[25] may well be your best bet, since a
LOT of stuff was lost
during last disk crash.
I learned a lot from readily-available information on the internet, such as
David Tait's PIC LED-flasher[26], forming an
ideal primer for PIC-controller enthousiasts, from
introductory text to schematics to 6-instruction asm-source to Intel hex-file.
IMHO, There should be more stuff like this on the net -
to the point, yet
complete. Well done, David!
Q: why did you mention techy crap while I'm not AT ALL interested in that?
A: just READ ON.
I am
michai[27], basically.
| gender | male |
| age | 33, hmpf. |
| height | 192cm (depends on gravity) |
| mass | approx 100kg and increasing OMFG!!1 |
| width | still smaller than my height |
| sense of humour | installed, but comes with manual |
| mood | acceptable, unless early or hungry |
I like...
- pizza
- to sleep late
- to stay up late
- Li Choo (my female unit :-)
- to watch cartoons
- to do "computer stuff", in particular programming and toying with simple electronics
- some impressive buildings
- to walk every now and then
- Unix
- simple and elegant things
- X Windows System (which is not simple and perhaps not elegant, but ok)
- miserable and rough weather
while I
don't like...
- hot weather combined with physical activity
- overcrowded and screaming websites
- people who repeat themselves
- mindless marketing fuzzy wuzzy buzzword talk without meaning
- people who repeat themselves
- wine
- things escalating to rediculous proportions
- people speaking when there's nothing to be said
- small and irritating dogs
I hope that was useful.
Since 1.1.2007, I work for a small Dutch software company, and I am very
happy there (
not just sucking up!) My job there is, basically,
programming.
I have worked in some other places, mostly doing computer-related stuff,
which is what I like. "
Nerd", you say?
scr3w j00.
The most social-related (side) jobs I ever had were...
- working in a small shop, which unfortunately no longer exists. Somehow I feel my qualities lie in working with inanimate objects instead of customers, but I had a good time there anyway.
- application support / helpdesk at a hospital. If anything, I learned to appreciate well-written documentation to avoid the need for answering the same question over and over again, and to be able to respond quickly and systematically to situations.
Everyone needs a
Blog[28] or something,
because everyone thinks he/she is
interesting enough to read about...
:-) Furthermore, here's my
Scratchpad[29].
RIGHT.
